Wall of Rose {SUPER BIG SMILE}

As the adage goes 'all good things take time...' and now that Rose's newborn picutres are taking the prime spot in our living room they were well worth the wait!!

We will definitely treasure these forever and can't wait to add more pictures over the years as our little flower continues to grow-up!!

3 Months

Yikes!! Where has the time gone? Rose you are now 3 months...according to the books (and we all know books can be hit or miss, maybe I'll post later on my experiences with baby books...) anyway, you have now completed your 4th trimester :) This is kind of the adjustment period to the outside world and completion of some skills that will make life more fun! You are VERY different then when we brought you home...

You are huge now. Daddy calls you Gigantor (he says that with love). We won't get you weighed again until your 4 month appointment, but I think you have to be around 11-12 pounds. My arms are getting nicely toned from carrying you around :) You have already outgrown so much clothing. 0-3 months will fit you width, but not length anymore!

You are also enthralled with you hands and it is sooo cute. You love to look at them and stick them in your mouth. You are batting at toys and holding toys in your little hands. You especially love toys with lights and music. Those fingernails keep growing and I am constantly trying to keep them trimmed.(I think you are going to be a lefty...so far you seem much more into that hand)

You also have gained great control over your neck and can hold up your head now when sitting and so much higher during tummy time! You can also 3/4 roll over from tummy to back...it is only 3/4 because sometimes you need help with the arm you are rolling on, you don't always pull it into your side, and then you get stuck!

Sadly you have also become a drool baby...but no worries you have cute little bibs to wear and I just ordered you some more for back up! We've noticed you really start to drool when you get excited. Daddy doesn't think it is nice to make you wear them, but I can't keep changing your outfit every hour.

You are still napping throughout the day. Usually you only like to be awake about an hour at a time and then need a nap. You nap best in the mornings and then usually just 30-60 minute naps in the afternoon. Bedtime is getting more consistent and daddy usually helps you fall asleep around 8pm. You sleep until around 5:30am and then eat and go back to sleep while mommy and daddy get up for the day. Then you are off to grandma or nanna's by around 7:30 until we pick you up in the afternoon. Both of them love you soooo much and enjoy having you during the day. I told daddy when I was having a bad day that it feels like I had a baby for our moms and he said 'yes, and they love it!'

You continue to eat well, although you went through a few days where you preferred the bottle to me... I was pretty sad, but you seem to be getting back to taking either. I am glad you take your bottle well and it is still all breast milk whichever way you get it. AND you have still not had anything but cloth diapers on your cute little tush! This has taken some extra time and effort from your parents and grandparents, but we are happy to do it for you.

My favorite times of the day are first thing in the morning when you are still sleepy and I nurse you. When you are done and wake up, you are so bright eyed and calm, just ready to start your day. I also love when I pick you up at the end of the day and we have a couple play sessions before you go to bed in the evening.

Our lives have also gotten a new *normal* routine. Daddy and I have even found time for getting some other things done around the house. Daddy has started painting that yucky green trim. He also put in air conditioners for you this weekend because it is sooooo hot (and the dogs are enjoying it too)! Next summer you can go in grandma and grandpa's pool. I have been baking more on the weekends too (this weekend some yummy banana bread). Daddy and I enjoy some time in the morning and evening together while you are sleeping. Daddy convinced me to let him get cable again, so now he is just soaking up all the shows he missed.

Life is good!
(ps- we got you a 3 month birthday toy, but it hasn't come yet...you won't really know the difference :) )

neonatal seborrhoeic dermatitis

aka Cradle Cap...and Rose has it :( {sigh}
My mom said I had it when I was little too, I don't think it's genetic, but I had it and survived and so will she!

Cradle cap is not caused by a bacterial infection, allergy, nor from poor hygiene. Rose gets a bath at least every other day and for risk of drying her sensitive skin, we won't be increasing that right now. On the fun side, when I had in her the tub with me the other day I discovered that she floats :)

Right now it's not too bad, just a bit flaky, but we'll watch it to see if it gets worse if we need to call her doctor...

I am sure there will be many other baby/child health *things* we experience...can't wait {sigh}!

iPhone for Rose?

Uhhh, I think Rose is practicing talking on the phone already!
She's gonna have to wait a couple years for her own iPhone.

Daddy plays for Rose

I bet Rose didn't know her daddy played guitar! She seemed to like it, daddy played such classics as 'Wheels on the Bus' and 'Row Row Row your Boat' while mommy sang. What a happy little family we are :)

"I don't hold fussy babies"- Pam

Our neighbors from Womelsdorf came to meet Rose this weekend! Pam wasn't really sure if she was comfortable holding Rose, but I just plopped her in her lap and she was a natural. When Rose thought she was going to show Pam who was in charge, Pam just informed Rose that she does not hold fussy babies...and Rose was all smiles :)
I tried that last night, but Rose was still fussy AND I still had to hold her!

we survived....

Rose had such a great week with grandma and nanna, that this is how she has decided to start our     weekend together:

Thanks for all the encouragement and hugs from my friends and family this week, it was tough!! Definitely cried multiple times each day, but a bit less each day...
After spending 10 weeks with Rose it is such a HUGE adjustment to be away from her for hours each day, but she is absolutely getting the best care and love from her grandma and nanna.
So we will enjoy our weekend together and try it all again next week!

Go Phillies!!

Rose and Grandpa ready to cheer on the Phillies!! Someday Grandpa and Rose will go watch the game in person, but not today because that would interfere with nap time!

Then they were just being silly!!
