5 MONTHS

Wow! We are on a roll now...literally since Rose is rolling around :)

Another month has passed and you are 5 months old, some days it seems like just yesterday you came into our lives and other days I can hardly remember life without you!

So what have you been up to this month...

Well you are rolling more and more and REALLY watching people (and the dogs) and examining your toys.

You have become very interested in watching us eat and drink and even seal your lips around the our cup when we put it to your mouth. So soon we will try some food with you...probably in the next week or two. I thought about waiting until 6 months, but you seem so interested and ready, so we'll give it a try and see what happens.You are still eating only breast milk and we give you all you want...honestly you could eat a bit more, because I totally produce enough, but when you are full you are full and there is no forcing you to eat.

Yes, that is chocolate on your forehead...daddy let you play with the spatula from the brownies...but none of it went in your mouth! I have VERY strong opinions about what you will be eating and let's just say if someone should deviate from 'mommy approved foods' I wouldn't want to be them ;)

We are still swaddling you to sleep. Hey it just seems to work for you, but you are often getting a leg or arm out by the morning, so we will probably try to start swaddling you less night during this month. You are still pretty much on your own schedule. You eat, play, and nap when you want to and you are very clear with us what you want :) Naps are still between 40 minutes to 3 hours...usually you have one really long nap and then a few shorter naps during the day. This month you have also transitioned from taking naps in the swing to just lying in your crib or playpen. At night we are trying to make sure you are in bed no later than 7:30pm and usually are up by 6:15am.

 You are also sitting with less and less support and if you start to topple over you know to put your hand down to catch yourself.

 

 You also like to stand up, but you totally need us for that trick!

You seem to be much more interested in your bath time. I would never say you have hated your bath, but you haven't seemed all that fond of it either until lately. Now you play with your duckie and splash in your bath and this makes you happy.

We took you shopping and got you a big girl car seat this month. You still fit just fine in your infant seat and we will probably keep using that most of the time for the next couple months to tote you around, but we are working on the transition. We went with the Britax Marathon 70 for my car and family trips and will probably go with the Evenflo Triumph for daddy's car and the grandparents.

Gramma and Nanna continue to spoil you like crazy!! You are the highlight of their day and they definitely think you are the {BESTEST} thing your mommy and daddy have ever done (we also agree with that).

So another month has passed and you are so incredible! This next month promises to be a very big month for you and we will celebrate your reaching 6 months with your first party!! It won't be as big as your first birthday, but we'll celebrate anyway because you're only 1/2 a year one time and it's a pretty big deal!
