Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Memorial Day! My thoughts are with all those who serve and their families who are without them.

Rose had a great week :) I think she is finally over all the runny nose/allergy/teething stuff (at least for now), so it was lots of fun, especially outside!

While the weather was still nice and warm on Monday, Rose enjoyed making bubbles in her water table and eventually was covered herself!

On Wednesday we planted some tomatoes with Nana.

Rose had to cool off with some yummy homemade strawberry-banana pops. Justin insisted he never had the Popsicle makers with the attached straw, but I remember them and think they were the greatest idea!

At the end of the week Nana dropped off a very large chalk broad for Rose. I am not sure it will stay outside, probably it will go in the office...

Justin {finally} brought Rose's trampoline back down and Rose had a good time getting bounced around this weekend.

In our pursuit to keep eating healthy, this week at the farmer's market we loaded up on dried fruits and nuts, to make our own snack mixes. On the counter they had baked/dried green beanssamples. Well, Rose LOVED them so we now have a bag full of them to munch on also :)

During car rides between all our activities this weekend I gave Rose her 'File Folder' binder, I am between making afghans right now, so this is my new project. File Folder games (just search google) are activities that can be laminated to a file folder and then you use velcro to place/match whatever your game is, then I store them in a binder. In this activity it was sorting fruit to place in a basket and animals that stuck to a barn. I have made 5 games so far and have TONS of ideas. I think I will try to keep these just for car rides and rainy days, so she doesn't get bored of them.

Sunday evening we joined my parents and grandparents for dinner. About a month ago Grandma Bechtel was in the hospital with pneumonia and since then her children have been taking turns bringing meals.

I don't know if you can see, but Nana is also holding a dish of M&M's that Rose enjoyed throughout the evening :)

There is always a box of toys for little ones to play with, I played with these toys when I was young too. (Most of them are probably older than me!)

Sadly, somewhere between the pictures above and while eating dinner, Grandma broke her clavicle. She told us she was in a lot of pain in her arm, after discussing what to do, Grandpa and my dad took her to the hospital where after x-rays they saw that she had broken her clavicle. She is healing at home, but was still in a lot of pain today. Please keep her in your prayers.

Before we left, Nana, Rose and I got this cute pic on the front porch :)

Here are some other cute pics I found from the week:

As for today, we didn't really do anything special. Rose spent the morning and nap time with her grandpa and grandma while Justin and I went off to breakfast and cleaned the attic, which was REALLY great to get done!!!

We did take Rose to the local park on the way home; I think Justin needs to make Rose a door for her playhouse :)

Weekly Wrap-Up

We had a lot to celebrate this week!!

Rose is wearing BIG GIRL panties, most of the time when at home or grandma's :) We haven't been daring enough to wear them in the car or at stores yet. She has only had one accident in them since Thursday, so I think we're getting closer to being fully potty trained!

This is Rose in a 18-24 month sleeper that she doesn't wear anymore because her bum was too big, but it fits again when she doesn't have a diaper on :) She is also fully dressed under those PJ's!

Oh, and this made me all nostalgic, this is a newborn onsie that Rose wore.
Can you remember when she was that small?

The other celebration this weekend was (soon to be aunt) Jenni's Bridal Shower on Saturday. Initially I wasn't going to take Rose because it was right at her nap time, but when she woke up the party was still going, so daddy dropped her off.

Rose arrived when presents were being opened. She started out by sitting with grandma...

But then decided to help out :)

This is Rose and the other flower girl. Jaylan is 3, so hopefully between her walking with Rose and daddy waiting at the end of the aisle, Rose will decide to walk down nicely.

Other things we were up to this week/weekend:
Rose is definitely her daddy's daughter, she is still obsessed with playing in and around the vehicles

Daddy also took a break from working on mommy's house to install a doorbell on Rose's house :)

Nana joined us on our Saturday morning outings to the farmer's marker and then music class.

Rose is also a mommy's girl and helped me roll out tortilla shells for Sunday dinner :)

Weekly Wrap-Up

It happened, honestly I can’t believe we made it this long, but Rose got her first ear infection. She has been congested and coughing over the last few weeks on and off, but between allergies and teething, I wasn’t too worried. Since Monday, though, everything was much worse, especially her cough! Last Monday she had her 2 year well check and her ears were fine then, so I think we caught this very early, since the doctor said her ears were just a bit red. I am really happy to report that as soon as she started her antibiotics she started feeling much better and now seems all better!

That doesn't mean she hasn't been a bit moody...I think she is getting her other eye tooth and so we have definitely had moments this week when nothing made her happy :(
But we also had lots of fun moments too :)

I have decided to embrace all the weeds in the grass, so whatever those white weeds are, I call them 'fairy flowers' and Rose and I blow the fairy's away to their homes :)

Rose also makes sure we keep her bird feeder FULL, so all the birdies have enough to eat!

And we enjoyed two nights of sink baths, but I don't know how much longer she will fit in there...

I *missed* so many cute photo’s during the week…Rose watering her plants, Rose sitting in her chair with her doll, Rose giving kisses, Rose holding hands with a little girl at music class….but I got a couple of us making some funny faces:

And I found this one and thought it was pretty cute too :)

Finally, Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies :) Rose gave me a card and kiss this morning in bed, which I loved. BUT the best gift she has given me is calling me 'mama'! (I was really sick of being referred to as 'daddy').
Rose and I also made cards for grandma and nana:

Here is the best pic of Rose, Nana, and me (Rose was not happy about having her picture taken)

But when I asked her to 'smell the flowers', she magically cooperated!

Weekly Wrap-Up

I am so HAPPY to report that this week was very not crazy J The last two weekends with Rose and Justin’s birthdays were a bit busy around here, but this week we were pretty much back to our normal routines.

We have been enjoying the beautiful weather and hope it keeps up. Rose hardly ever comes in the house until bed time unless I can coax her to sit on the potty. Rose is getting more and more consistent with going on the potty. At grandma’s she has some days with no wet diapers; here at home we are a little less successful, but we are getting there J

Rose also enjoys the local park, she is fearless on the playground equipment! She goes down the big slide all by herself and even hangs off the bars.

First Rose warms up on the small slide...

It's a long climb up to the top of the big slide:

Then it's fun all the way down!

This week has also been a terrific week because Rose is using some new words very consistently!! About two weeks ago Rose starting babbling the ‘ba’ sound so we have been working on words with the ‘ba’ sound. Rose is now saying ‘baby’ and ‘bye bye’!!!! On Saturday she also broke out a ‘lalala’ in music class during two different songs. When we went to leave class, I took Rose up to Christine (our class leader) and had Rose say ‘bye bye’, Christine and I both started crying! Tears of pure happiness J Rose still has a lot of words to go, but I can’t tell you how happy I have been with these new words!

Saturday was also an awesome day because Becky and Anna met us for lunch. Becky drove all the way from Bloomsburg with 2 children to spend the afternoon with Rose and I (Brahm got dropped off at his grandparents). I don’t think I would have tried that long of a car ride with Rose all by myself, so hats off to Becky. We had a wonderful lunch at Betty’s in Kutztown and then came back home to play.

I sneaked in some time with Anna while Rose took a nap :)

After Becky and Anna headed out, I made Rose some more sidewalk paint (a mixture of corn starch, water, and food coloring). It works pretty well and seems not to stain clothing J

Rose also enjoyed putting on mommy’s sunglasses, isn't she a cutie?

Sunday was also a very ‘talkative’ day for Rose. At her speech session she said 14 different word/word approximations! That is an all time record for a session and I think she is somewhere around 20-25 words that I would give her credit for, we are getting there J

Justin has also been very productive working around the house. It is lawn mowing season again, I really think grass just wastes our time, but I don’t really have a good alternative, so I guess we’ll keep it. Justin is working on electrical in the back bedroom. The next step is insulation, drywall, floors, and ceiling. Then it will really start to feel like a room!
